A retired couple has revealed how they’re living on the beach without spending all of their Social Security checks.
Their golden age lifestyle was by no means frugal, but it wasn’t possible without some big decisions.
Cindy and Fred are a retired couple who spend their days at the beach on a budget of less than $1,500 a month.
This is significantly less than the average Social Security income for married couples of $2,800.
Video on YouTube channel TV for living overseasFred and Cindy revealed how.
One of the ways they are able to keep their expenses so low is that the rent is only $250 a month.
“We’re not on a dime. That includes internet for two people, a housekeeper, and taking care of the car,” Cindy said.
But the secret to Cindy and Fred’s affordable life was moving to Huatulco, Mexico.
“We are very happy here,” she said.
“Once you get off the airport, I guarantee you’ll be there within two hours. You’ll just lose weight.”
Cindy and Fred consider life in Huatulco “almost heavenly.”
And they make up just two of the 62,000 American retirees in Mexico, according to Social Security data.

Cindy and Fred aren’t the only ones showing how affordable retirement living in Mexico can be.
Janet Blazer lives in a beachfront apartment in Mazatlán on almost all her Social Security payments.
“I think we all want to be happy,” she said. she said in a CNBC video.
“Unfortunately, what we’re told in America is that you only need millions of dollars a year, or this $100,000, to retire. I’m a living example of that. To be happy. I don’t need anything like that.”
