WASPI campaigners are “delighted” with proposals to pay £10,000 in compensation to millions of women affected by state pension age changes.
Angela Madden, the campaign’s president, told GB News that women born after April 6, 1950 had their “retirement dreams shattered” by the equalization of the state pension age.
of WASPI (Women Against Inequality in State Pensions) Campaign Like men, they have been lobbying politicians to address the historical injustices faced by millions after the age threshold was raised from 60 to 65.
However, approximately 3.6 million women born before March 5, 1950 were not fully informed of these changes until 2009, which had a significant impact on their retirement plans. Furthermore, the national pension will be raised from age 65 to 66 after that, and further increases are expected from 2026 to 2028.

An investigation by the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) accused the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) of “administrative misconduct” over how it provided information to people affected by the changes.
In an exclusive interview with GB News, Mr Madden said the elderly woman had been effectively “fired” by the government, but was “pleased” that MPs understood the importance of giving her fair compensation. ” he said.
She explained: “All WASPI women have suffered from years of anxiety, stress from financial insecurity, and depression from ‘cancellation’ from the government that claims to represent them.
“[Despite] They knew they had done everything right, but their retirement plans were dashed by a government that didn’t bother to tell them that the state pension age had been raised by a whopping six years in 10 years. It was. ”
The All Party Parliamentary Group on National Pension Inequalities for Women has concluded in response to the PHSO inquiry that all WASPI women affected by the scandal should receive Level 6 compensation starting from £10,000. I submitted proof of that.
According to the WASPI Chairman, this amount should be added to the material or economic losses incurred, which should be fully repaid.
Ms Madden added: “This investigation is now in its second stage, with PHSO investigating what wrongdoing was caused by the DWP’s mismanagement.
“It’s like a car accident: there has to be liability (tort) and then there has to be injury (tort). Then we can make a claim.
DWP found to have engaged in ‘mismanagement’ in processing pension changes

“We have reviewed PHSO’s interim report and sent a firm response. We are now waiting for him to complete his final report. Within weeks, not months. , we hope to have it available soon.”
A cross-party group of MPs recently gave evidence on this issue and decided that all WASPI women affected by the mismanagement should receive compensation from £10,000.
Earlier this month, SNP MP Alan Brown spoke about the need for this amount to help WASPI women across the country get the support they deserve.
