Apple unveils new MacBook and M3 chip
Apple (AAPL) stock was flat on Tuesday following Monday night’s “Scary Fast” virtual event.
As Yahoo Finance Dan Howley Report:
Apple announced its latest MacBook Pro lineup and updated iMac. Each system is powered by the company’s new M3 chip series, which features a new graphics architecture that improves performance for games and graphics-intensive apps.
The Pro comes in 14-inch and 16-inch variants and includes Apple’s Liquid Retina XDR display, 1080p camera, six-speaker sound system, and Apple’s macOS Sonoma operating system. But what sets these laptops apart from their predecessors is the chip.
The MacBook Pro 14-inch is available in entry-level M3, mid-range M3 Pro, and top-of-the-line M3 Max. MacBook Pro 16-inch comes with M3 Pro and M3 Max. His MacBook Pro 14-inch with M3 starts at $1,599, and the 14-inch M3 Pro version starts at $1,999. MacBook Pro 16-inch prices start at $2,499.
All chips use 3-nanometer technology and feature Apple’s new Dynamic Cache GPU technology. The company says the technology is designed to allow software to take full advantage of the GPU’s available resources. Overall, Apple says the M3 line is a significant upgrade over his first-generation M1 chip line and his older Intel-based MacBooks.
