While shoppers may be tempted to buy things on their supply list as cheaply as possible, Sid said it’s important not to skimp on quality supplies.
“I want book bags, lunch boxes and folders that can be used all year round,” said Sid. “The upfront cost is a little higher, but you won’t have to replace these items in the middle of the school year.”

If you’re looking for a high-quality backpack or lunch box at an affordable price, Sid recommends visiting department stores to pick up these essentials at lower prices.
“Both Macy’s and Kohl’s sell affordable backpacks, including brands like Adidas, Nike and Jansport, and often run special promotions where you can earn cash back in-store with your purchase.” Mr Sid said.
Buy school supplies at Target and Walmart
For low prices on school supplies, I recommend shopping at Target and Walmart.
Grab your essentials like paper, pencils, folders and crayons. Sid said shoppers who use the Target Circle Rewards program can also find additional coupon discounts on consumables.
Buy lunch accessories at Dollar Tree
For just $1.25 each, Sid said parents can stock up on ice packs, plastic sandwich bags and food containers for school lunches.

“I buy clothes and shoes online when the store has a sale, plus I can use coupon codes,” Sid said. “If you get store cash back from Macy’s or Kohl’s, even better!”
Take advantage of coupons and rebate apps
Sid recommends using both digital and printed coupons when shopping to save money on purchases like school lunches and snacks. Back-to-school shoppers can combine these coupons with in-store sales.
To save even more, Sid said, use rebate apps like Ibotta and Fetch to earn cash back on purchases.
