With Sting’s professional wrestling career coming to an end, fans and pundits alike are wondering who his retirement match will be against in AEW.
In a recent episode “wrestling time machine“WWE Hall of Famer Teddy Long has spoken out about Chris Jericho, who recently claimed he didn’t want to face Sting (before his match at AEW Dynamite). Long believes Jericho vs. Sting will make money, but Bill Apter believes it won’t.” I don’t think Jericho should be Sting’s final opponent, but Long is Sting’s final opponent. gave his thoughts on who would become
“I’m just like you. I’m trying to figure out who’s going to be there. I want to be MJF to make it really interesting,” Long said. “If you go in there with Jericho, you have to go, you know, you have to roll. It’s the same with MJF. If he goes in there with Sting, he brings it to him.” So do you know Sting? He’s going to be a man, he’s gotta keep up. I think he can keep up.”
Sting has not appeared in a singles match since 2015 when he fought Seth Rollins in WWE. Since joining AEW in late 2020, “Icon” has teamed with Darby Allin in 15 tag team and multi-man matches. In a late 2022 interview with The Ringer, Sting claimed that his final match would be against Allin, but not in a singles match.
AEW president Tony Kahn also said he would love to see Sting wrestle for as long as he wants. But when it comes time for Khan to retire, he plans to make it a big event.
