There are some farms in the North, but farmers’ markets can be difficult to find in the cold, windy weather. Several farmers and arts and crafts vendors have set up a local market in Rice Lake City Park for residents looking to support small businesses.
Carly Hungerford said there were some hiccups in planning the farmers market and it was too late in the season. “We wanted to promote some sort of market for local crafters and vendors,” Hungerford said. “Quite a few members of the community have come out and checked out what they have to offer.”
Hungerford also said not all vendors showed up at the market due to bad weather. “We had 11 different vendors sign up and because of today’s weather, we had five of our toughest vendors come out,” Hungerford said.
Hungerford said if people want to check out other local vendors in the community, they’ll be back on Sept. 26. “For people who are busy on the weekends, we also have events on weeknights. We will be out again on Tuesday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, with all our vendors and weather permitting. We hope you’ll come here to Rice Lake City Park.”
