Panama City Beach, Fla. (WMBB) — The biggest conversations in Washington are about budgets and debt ceilings.
The cap is currently at $31.4 trillion.
Experts predict the US will reach that number by early June.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy introduced a bill this week to raise the debt ceiling by $1.5 trillion.
Florida state representative Neil Dunn told News 13 on Friday.
He said Congress must balance its spending with the needs of the country.
“We need to become more thrifty in the way we spend,” Dunn said. “But where does the debate always begin to limit spending? And most of us feel that now is not the time to limit military spending.”
Dunn said residents will be able to see the proposed cuts next week.
