CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The local housing market is on the decline, with home sales in Massachusetts currently at a 12-year low.
22News spoke with local real estate agent Steven LaPlante of ERA M. Connie LaPlante Real Estate about the current housing market in the area. He said a lack of inventory, high prices and high borrowing costs have led to a significant decline in home sales.
Additionally, the winter season can actually be advantageous for buyers who don’t want too much competition. Mr. LaPlante said: “For people who were frustrated by how competitive the market was, this is starting to be a little bit of a better time. You should be able to get a better deal with less competition.”
LaPlante added that while sellers need to be competitive, they can still expect to sell their homes for significantly more than they did a year ago.
