Martin Lewis has issued a warning to pensioners who may miss a £301 payment from the government.
The consumer champion shared advice on Wednesday’s Good Morning Britain, where Lewis helps viewers navigate the cost of living crisis in his Wallet Wednesday segment.
He warned that about one million people have been given just over two weeks to benefit from pension credits from the Ministry of Labor and Pensions.
“Pension credits are additional benefits that help people of public pension age who do not earn enough. It’s been a total tragedy,” Lewis told viewers.
“They have paid for the system their entire lives and have not received this significant extra charge.”
He added that it’s a time when it’s “really important” to have access to these payments.
“The current cost of living payments have already started and the eligibility period has ended for most people, but since pension eligibility can be traced back, what this means is that if you are eligible, you are eligible. You can receive £301 and you have until May 19th to claim.
“You can get £301 just by claiming your pension credit, even if you get less.”
The warning was issued by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) as more than 7 million households across the UK will receive £301 in cost of living by the end of Wednesday.
The payments are part of a broader package of government assistance announced to address the cost of living for 2023-24, with an additional £300 for eligible families in fall 2023 and £299 in spring 2024. Payment included.

Prime Minister Jeremy Hunt said:
Between 16 January and 15 February 2023, people will receive a cost of living payment of £301 if they were entitled to certain benefits such as universal credits, pension credits and child tax credits. I am eligible.
