SURFSIDE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) — Police arrested a South Carolina man Monday after he allegedly tried to attack a victim with a screwdriver at a home in Surfside Beach, according to the Horry County Sheriff’s Office.
Joseph Bradley Moxie, 39, was charged with first-degree robbery and first-degree assault after the incident.
According to the incident report, officers were dispatched to a residence on North Fawn Vista Drive in reference to a burglary.
Upon arriving at the scene, the victim told police that Moxie entered her home without permission and attempted to stab her with a screwdriver.
The victim fought off Moxie and fled the scene before arriving officers arrested him, according to the report.
The victim went on to say that he gave Moxie money to get his car out of the detention area, but when the money was not paid, he was attacked and told Moxie that he could no longer enter the premises.
Witnesses at the scene corroborated the victim’s story, the report said.
Online jail records show Moxie is being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center, with no bond set.
