The U.S. stock market will be closed on Thursday, November 23rd in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
The Nasdaq and New York Stock Exchanges will be closed on Thursday and will reopen on Friday, albeit with reduced hours.
The New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq will open normally on Friday, but will close at 1pm ET.

Thanksgiving will be the penultimate market closure on the 2023 holiday schedule, excluding Christmas. The market will then close again on New Year’s Day and Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Monday, January 15th).

In 1863, Abraham Lincoln proclaimed that National Thanksgiving Day would be celebrated on Thursday, November 26th. This holiday has since been declared by every president, with a few exceptions, the day chosen was the last Thursday of his November. According to Britannica, President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued a proclamation in 1942 designating the fourth Thursday in November as Thanksgiving Day.
