This is how stories are born my blood boils.
I’m talking about when companies try to lay off loyal, hard-working employees right before they become eligible for pension benefits.
It’s not a common occurrence, but it does happen.
A Reddit user also shared a story about what happened when HR tried to kick out a father who was trying to collect his pension.
Find out what happened in the story below.
“My father worked for a Forbes 500 company since the 1970s.
He rose through the ranks as a software engineer and executive, securing patents for his company and saving millions of dollars. He is about to reach pension age, but suddenly HR starts making his life miserable. He noticed this trend occurring as some of his colleagues approached his 60s.
The HR woman called him into her office and told him he wasn’t punching in and punching out at the right times. My father is an engineer and a very detail-oriented person. He knew these were false accusations and asked Human Resources to prove it. They came back a week later and couldn’t prove it.
And he said, “Of course you can’t do that. I drive a company bus ride. [A major city 40 miles away from the company] For the past 15 years. I always record his 16 witnesses on time and this guy has never been late in 15 years. ”
The HR woman came back a week later and said she was going to fire him for letting people into the building without badges. He asked to see when and where someone was allowed into the building without a badge. They showed that he had worked there since the ’70s and held the door for his best friend who had type 2 diabetes and had his leg amputated. he was in a wheelchair.
Prior to this, my father took the head of security out to lunch, told him that the company wanted him to quit before he received his pension, and obtained some footage of himself.
My dad said, “That’s very interesting. Are you going to fire me for holding the door for my best friend of 35 years, who has an amputee and is in a wheelchair? Okay, so the CEO and yourself.” I would like you to dismiss me.”
He then showed footage of a woman in human resources holding a door for a friend and a CEO holding a door for a friend.
My father ended up staying there until he got his pension. ”
Check out what people are saying.
This reader made it very clear how he feels about this.
Another simply said, “You’re always replaceable.”
And this Reddit user said that bygone is gone and there’s a whole new world in the workplace these days.
Companies can be the worst.
I’m glad this guy got what he deserved.
