Barcelona are reportedly planning to cut wages by another £61m as they prepare to take on more debt.
The Catalan giants are top of La Liga, 12 points ahead of fierce rivals Real Madrid.
However, off-pitch issues continue to cloud the club’s future.
And with Nou Camp renovation plans in the pipeline, their debt (consisting of loans and finance) is expected to reach £1.3 billion.
according to Relevowhich prompted the club’s chief to consider cutting each player’s salary by 15% starting next season.
Stars such as Jordi Alba will also be approached about taking on new deals at lower wages.
Barcelona believes these cuts could save up to £61m.
But players will have to agree to pay cuts. This is a decision the team must make as a group.
And it can be a tough sell, especially if the club continues to try and sign big names over the summer.
Earlier this week, reports surfaced that Lionel Messi could be back.

The 35-year-old Argentinian left the team in an emotional situation two years ago when Barça’s financial crisis forced him to move.
He is currently in his second season at Paris Saint-Germain but has been asked to cut his contract to stay with the French side.
And Barça are one of several big offers on the table despite Messi’s financial instability.
The club’s fans even chanted his name during Wednesday night’s 4-0 loss to Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey.
The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner is also eligible for a £350m annual offer from Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal.
David Beckham’s MLS club Inter Miami have also expressed interest in bringing him to the United States.
