Thiruvananthapuram: Some 11,800 government sector employees, including teachers, are due to retire on May 31. The number of retirees in May 2022 and May 2021 was 11,100 and 9,205, respectively. The old habit of listing his date of birth as his May 31st on school admission documents is why many people retire on the same day.
As many as 21,063 people will retire in the state this year, according to the 11th Salary Revision Commission report. This important figure shows that nearly half of all retirees are saying goodbye to their careers today.
The average number of retirees per year is 20,000. The state is projected to see his 23,714 retirements in 2027, above average, according to government data.
Retirees are entitled to receive benefits. The estimated cost is around Rs 300 billion. However, the government is not burdened to announce the amount at once. Benefits are paid with the consent of the Treasurer General.
Finance Minister KN Balagopal reiterated the same, saying that normal arrangements are in place for the payment of benefits.
