The Employee Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) on Tuesday extended the deadline for filing applications to opt for a higher pension until 26 June 2023.

The application submission timeline has been extended to provide greater opportunities and allow all eligible individuals to submit their applications, according to a statement from the Department of Labor and Employment.
“EPFO (Employees’ Provident Fund Organization) has made arrangements to obtain applications for option/joint option validation from pensioners/participants pursuant to a Supreme Court Order of 4 November 2022.” the statement said.
Online functionality is now available to facilitate the process. So far he has received over 120,000 applications. Online features were available until May 3, 2023.
In the meantime, there have been many requests for an extension of the period from various quarters. In order to provide greater opportunities and allow all eligible persons to submit applications, the issue is being considered and the deadline for submitting applications will be June 26, 2023, the ministry said. the statement said.

The timeline has been extended to facilitate and provide ample opportunities to alleviate the difficulties faced by pensioners/participants, the statement added.

This was decided after sympathetic consideration of the various requests made by employees, employers and their associations, the statement added.
